In this course, we utilized scholarly research to determine the focus of one country's social issue and created a design-centric solution. The focus of my project was on the Japanese Hikikomori phenomenon, which refers to persons who withdraw from social life and do not maintain relationships with anyone, excluding their immediate families, for more than six months. I developed a medium to help young Hikikomori who have turned their backs on the world to discontinue their seclusion in their rooms and face the world again. Through this solution, the public will understand the problems Hikikomori face and potentially develop ways to help them heal their minds and return to a more stable relationship with society.
